CTS BD1N - high carbon, high chromium, martensitic nitrogen steel, provides an excellent balance of hardness, edge retention and corrosion resistance. Designed as an improvement or evolution (nitrogen addition) in the production of knives, CTS-BD1 stainless steel. The CTS-BD1N has a higher working hardness than the CTS-BD1 steel, up to 63 HRC. Manufactured by Carpenter Technology Corporation.
Compression-Lock - (similar to Liner-Lock) patented by Spyderco (made in USA) head lock mechanism. Extremely durable, provides extreme strength and ease of use. On the back of the handle, it protects the knife against unintentional closing. When releasing the lock, the fingers are not in the path of the folding head.
Head - laser cut with modified Clip Point profile, thickness 3.7 mm. Reflective Satin Finish coating (half-matte). The Plain smooth blade has a Full Flat Grind that increases cutting properties and reduces the weight of the knife. Enlarged 14 mm round SpyderHole cut-out (Spyderco patent) for opening the knife, also in the glove. Corrugated thumb support, spine jimping and finger choil jimping, corrugated index finger support between handle and cutting edge make working with the knife easier.
The handle - made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a glass-fibre reinforced nylon, has a bidirectional anti-slip texture of Bi-Directional Texturing linings that provides a perfect grip, also with greasy or moist hands. The ultra-lightweight handle lining construction and open-backed design reduce weight by almost 30 percent compared to the G-10 handle folder. The wire, screw-on (left/right) clip allows the blade to be carried in the tip-down position.
