Made of steel and durable plastic, WE's WE-R015 model presents itself as an excellent replica of the iconic AKM carbine in "tactical" version. It was made with the utmost attention to detail and reproduction of the flammable counterpart.
The Blow-Back system used works "hard", as befits an AK-type replica, thus guaranteeing much greater realism for both the user and observers. This is undoubtedly the biggest asset of this model. It is best felt when using the replica in automatic fire mode.
Additional realism is added by a new system introduced by the manufacturer, the so-called Open Bolt. EC replicas with this solution do not have a brass insert in the breech chamber, which was present in the first models of this company. Thanks to the use of such a system, the entire lock retracts during shooting, identical to the firearm version.
The replica is made mainly of steel, including the breech chamber and its cover. RIS rails are located on the front: the upper one tailored for mounting optics, especially collimator sights, and the lower one, designed for mounting accessories such as foregrips or flashlight mounts. The liners and pistol grip are made of sturdy, durable polymer.
The included magazine, which holds 30 rounds. The replica is powered by Green Gas. The gas tank is located in the magazine, while the valve has been discreetly hidden at the base of the magazine. The adjustable stock provides much better maneuverability in tight spaces than the typical wooden stock used in similar models.
The manufacturer has applied several interesting solutions to the replica to improve the age-old design. The first is an interestingly solved magwell in the magazine socket, which makes magazine replacement easier and faster. The second improvement is a platform on the fire selector making it easier to operate it with the index finger of the right hand. This speeds up the unlocking/securing of the replica.
The last improvement is a special cutout on the fire selector that allows you to hold the breech in the rear position. This speeds up the reloading of the replica and protects accidental firing by locking the lock. The replica is designed to be powered by CO2 gas, which is stronger than Green Gas.
