The PGS 2.2050.2 cartridge is a disposable 11 ml gel pepper cartridge designed for the Walther PGS/PDP system and compatible launchers, including the HDR 50. The active ingredient is Oleoresin Capsicum at a concentration of 10%, which corresponds to a potency of 2,000,000 SHU. The formulation is sprayed as a concentrated, conical jet, which increases the focus of the flight path and reduces dispersion and susceptibility to fizzing.
The cartridge contains a UV dye to help identify the attacker treated with the gas. The nominal effective range is up to 5m in windless conditions. The number of short pulses that can be fired depends on the model of the gas gun and the user's settings. Pepper gas throwers compatible with this cartridge are small enough to be successfully carried in a kidney bag.
The product is designed to temporarily incapacitate people and deter aggressive animals. Effects include severe irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract, causing severe burning and watering of the eyes, as well as coughing and difficulty breathing. The cartridge is disposable - replace with a new one after use.
