The SLx prismatic sight from Primary Arms features an etched ACSS Aurora MIL target reticle and fixed 5x magnification. The sight uses MicroPrism™ technology that combines the advantages of collimators and scopes. By properly aligning the individual prisms, it displays a detailed image reducing the need for corrective eyepieces.
The etched target reticle may or may not be illuminated when aiming. This means that when the battery is low or conditions are exceptionally favorable, the user will not need illumination. On the other hand, when there is a need to highlight the aiming point, IR and red illumination are put at the user's disposal in this model.
The sight is mounted on a classic Picatinny 22mm mounting rail, but an optional elevation can be mounted between the rail mount and the optic. Included with the sight, the user gets two for 1/3 elevation and Absolute Co-Witness. In addition, the SLx sight can be adjusted to one of eight positions from 1.1" (28 mm) to 2.075" (52.7 mm).
The reticle's aiming point is based on an inverted chevron, which is literally an expanded letter V rotated 180°. In this configuration, the narrowest point of the chevron is the correct mark for aiming, while the horizontal lines below are scales for working at a longer distance. The user can adjust the illumination of the reticle in a total of 16 degrees, 13 for daylight conditions and three for night vision.
The housing is made of aluminum, which has undergone sealing and meets the IP67 waterproof rating. The AutoLive function implemented in the device extinguishes the backlight after a prolonged period of inactivity thus saving the battery. Power supply requires a single CR2032 battery, placed in a compartment on the side of the body.
